Honda Civic Coup 1993 Electric Vehicle (EV)
This is a
newly converted plugin electric 1993 Honda Civic Coup with a five speed
transmission. The new electric
motor is made by Advance DC Motor, and its rated at 28 HP continuous and
48 HP Peak at 144 VDC. It has a Curtis 144 VDC controller. There are
twelve
new 12 volt Trojan batteries that are installed in this vehicle running at
144 volts. It has a DC to DC converter installed that keeps the 12 volt
battery charged at all times. It
also has installed a DC volt meter and amp meter on the dash for easy
readings. Top speed will be up to 70+ MPH that can be reached with this EV. As the batteries
cycle through after 16 to 20 charges there will also be a noticeable
difference in farther range per charge. Currently it is getting 20
to 25 miles on a charge until the car wears in more. Once it wears in it
will get 30 to 35 miles+ on a charge on the average. Normal car parts for this car
are easily accessible at your local auto dealers, which is not the same
with the GEM cars. All the electric parts that are made with this EV
are made here in the USA. This is a great run
around electric car for most your local driving including driving to
work with freeway speeds. The plug to charge the vehicle
comes out of the old fueling lid. Studies show that most people
average 29 miles per day in driving.
