Herbal medicines could be a whole website on it's own.  If you like herb plants and make your own herbal remedies, than growing herbs might be something you would be interested in starting.  There are thousands of herb plants and to know the right ones to grow or have in your storage will take a little research and work.  There are some good well known medicinal herbs that you can start with for planting or storage which are mentioned below.  Make sure that when acquiring herbs for storage or for growing that you consider your sources.  Some packing plants don't use the best herbs especially when it comes to herbal oils.  Make sure you are getting quality herbs that will actually work for you.  Talk to those that use herbs consistently and know something about them and then search it out yourself.  Many herbs can be dried and last for years in storage if growing your own or if buying them in bulk.  Here are a few herbs of the many that are commonly used.

When storing your herbal medicines you want to keep them in cool dry places.  Just like any edible foods they can mildew, mold, or spoil if not kept in the right environment especially if growing your own organic herbs. Most are packed right when buying them in the bottle or in the bulk packages.  If packing them yourself, you want to have you herbal medicines in air tight packaging, which is a good step in making them last, especially if living in a more humid climate.
